Hi! This is my 1st posting! How exciting! I thot i wud start off with a pic of me in one of my fave outfits. This getup is inspired from the 70s - a decade i wud love to hav experienced. My Mum and Dad got married in the mid 70s and i love looking back at their pics - all long puffy hair and bell bottom jeans. Fantastic! In the pic i am wearing a vintage Wallis coat my Mum bought at around this time. I love it. The lining is starting to tear but that can be fixed. Otherwise its in excellent condition. My b/f got me the hat for Xmas from Asos (obviously i sent him a link to the hat and told him in no uncertain terms that i wanted this for Xmas). Its by People Tree, a eco friendly company. The orange and brown adornment can be detached and worn as a brooch! I love it on so many levels and new i had to get it as it is the same teal colour as my coat.
The tee and, cardigan and bag are from Zara. This is my new fave shop. It looks so expensive and classy yet the clothes are so affordable (I am currently reading 'Fashion Brands' by Mark Tungate and he explains that because Zara do not advertise (!) then they can sell their clothes for cheaper). I went bananas in the Belfast store in the January sales. They had so many 70s inspired, hippy style clothes that i didn't kno wher to start. I homed in on the bag straight away. It is easily my fave bag, even tho there are no compartment so it takes me 5mins to find my Vaseline. But i don't care! Sometimes functionality goes out the window when u find something that appeals to you so visually!
The jeans are from H&M. Alot of my H&M stuff (jeans included) i bought new from Oxfam charity shops. Up until recently H&M supported Oxfam and donated clothes to them. Sometimes the clothes are imperfect - button missing or zip not working but most of the time i cant notice anything wrong. Unfortunately the contract b/w the 2 has stopped and i am lost! I now have to buy H&M stuff full price!!! Eek!
The shoes are a recent buy. They are by Red and Dead and i got them in Schuh in Oxford St., London. My b/f and are went to London last month for his 24th. We had a grt time shopping although i was quite put out by the fact that he bought more than me! But then again, i shop on an almost daily basis whereas he doesn't . . . Anyway, i fell in love with the shoe straight away. They have that harlequin thing going on that was so in fashion recently. And they have a cuban heel - my fave. So perfect!
Lastly, the tan leather belt is from a charity shop in Belfast. I got it when i was around 18 - when i first started getting into charity shop. Before this i was too embarrassed to even stand outside one!! How stupid was i?? Now, I'd rather shop in a charity shop than regular one!!
I have called my 1st post the 'Carnaby Street Look' as this was my fave place in London (so many grt little one-off stores and amzing vintage shops). My boss always says i look like I've just come from there! Carnaby St was big in the 70s for all the hippy ppl.
